I am addicted to popping/cracking my joints constantly...how do I stop??

I crack/pop my knuckles, jaw, collar-bone, hips, arms, neck, toes, and feet as much as possible. It annoys my husband and must annoy my friends/co-workers etc. Why am I so addicted? How do I stop? PS- Please spare me the lecture on it causing arthrities because I am a medical student and know that is not true.

I have that habit too, and you don't realize it till you're with a crowd, lost in your thoughts and start cracking away. The best is when you use your neck muscles to swing and crack your neck and everyone just stares at you. Or when you open your hand as if to motion "5" then slowly and deliberately crack each finger on the way down to your palm, ending in a fist.

The best way is to excuse yourself briefly, bathroom, kitchen and so forth. The way i figure its as if the most active people need to crack their joints. So be proud!!
Reply:when you break one you'll stop
Reply:Have you tried wearing mittens or something? the embarassment alone should make you stop.

PS Rememeber this when you are qualified, and one of your patients says "I've tried to stop but...."
Reply:Well what i did (i used to crack my knuckles) was every time i felt like cracking them i would just squeeze my palms for 5-10 seconds and let it go and relax. It doesn't work for everyone though...
