How Do you take legal action against someone that's harassing you?

For months this 22 year old punk a$$ female has been harassing me and my family. Shes threatened me. Threatened my family. Tried to start a fight with me while i was holding my lil sister in my arms she has left threatening messages in front of my house she has stole balls popped pools stole my dogs collar, just about ne crazy ridiculous thing you can think of shes done. And now the worst she has smashed in the front of my car. How could i get this to stop? What legal action can be made?

How Do you take legal action against someone that's harassing you?
First, get a pocket tape recorder. Get her recorded saying threatning things to you. If you can get any other evidence that is even better. Make copies of your evidence and keep it locked up. Take a copy to your local police station and file a report. If the cops don't do anything, then go to the Sheriff's office and file a report, then go to the D.A. DONT LET THIS WOMAN RUN YOU OUT. DON'T LET HER WIN.A restaing order will not do you much good with the law enforcement. All they will do is talk to her and tell her not to do it again. This is from experience.

Reply:Call the police and file a complaint against her. They will advise you from there.

Reply:Geez... Call the cops and then move out. You'll have a struggle with that woman until you can prove everything she does to you!
Reply:...and you're going to need to have proof that she did it, photos, messages (threatening), etc.

Good luck...but you might think about it and really feel sorry for her. She must be really miserable to act out like that, and she evidently feels that making you feel worse will make her feel better.

For physical damage, yes I would pursue action, otherwise just feel sorry for her, really. And don't engage her when she wants to fight and argue...be the better person. It may not feel great walking away, but if things go from bad to worse and it escalates, you may regret it later...
Reply:1. Make police report for each and every incident.

2. Ask police / DA for a restraining order to keep this woman away from you and your family, your home, work place etc. Know full well that it probably will not be enforced, but in later police reports also include that this is also in violation of the restraining order.

3. If you get the restraining order, phone the police every time you catch her in violation %26amp; sometimes they will come out and arrest her.

4. Tell your insurance company the identity of the person who did the damage. Your insurance company will try to find what her insurance company is %26amp; go after them for the cost of repair, which will raise her insurance rates ... this is home/renter insurance or auto insurance or whatever was attacked or damaged.

5. Contact private lawyer or legal aid ... see about a civil law suit against the woman.

You need to gather evidence that this is happening, otherwise it is just your word against hers.

Get cameras, have with you in car, home, work, person.

Every time you see her, photograph.

Ideally you want also to get where was this, what time was this.

Some cameras come with digital info that is helpful.

If not, mix on roll of film a street sign, or something that shwos geography, or you could have a note pad with info written on it ... date time location %26amp; nature of incident ... so you have roll of film where photos alternate, here she is doing something, and here in your diary is when it happened

Remember that it is not illegal to take people photos without their permission, but there are legal limits to how those photos may be used, without permission of person in the photo ... make sure you do not violate those rules.
