Why do so many people despise the popped collar?

I've been horribly misjudged for having a popped collar and I'd like some insight. I'm a really sweet, caring and compassionate guy but because I popped my collar most people seem to think I'm an arrogant, self-centred prick. Even though i dont act like that at all.

Why do so many people despise the popped collar?
Oh yeah. I hear you. I was talking to my popped collar the other day.





I was all like, "P.C. ... they don't understand you. They make these fast judgments and all. If they only knew about the broken home you came from. And your community service at the pantry."





And P.C. was all like ... "Mother-@$%^. Dem @$#%$^#^$#$ don't know @$#^%#$^."





"That's ... that's ... that's right, man. I was just thinking that."





And he concluded with, "Don't yo' EVAHHHH pop me a-DOWWWWWNNNN! I'll kill yo' little kitty ovah dey-ahhh!"





"It's ... it's cool, man. We're good. ..."





Seriously, though, I think that -- as the other poster above alluded to -- it's OK if it's dang cold out and you want to warm your neck (if it's a long-sleeved polo and wintertime), or if it's summer and you want to protect against a sunburn on the beach (though today we have nifty sunscreens for that). If it's not for some practical reason such as these, though, I see no reason to do it.
Reply:Sorry, but i am one of those people who hate the pop collar. It doesn't matter what kind of person you are, you are judged by the popped collar. I can sum up the typical guy who pops their collar: preppy, dresses hollister or ambercrombie and fitch, spends lot of time of their hair, and likes to wear those thong flip flops. A attitude that they think they are something special jumps out. Sorry, but like everything else, it is a stereotype. If you are as nice as you say I would unpop the collar and leave it flat. Popping a collar just makes it seem as if that person thinks they are all that with chips and dip.

the reason why so many ppl think that is because they think you are stuck up and an asshole and that you dont want anything to do with them and only your own group...it is one of the most sterio-typical things on earth..





why ppl pop there collars is bc wayy back in the day rich snobby sailer kids that played croqet or w.e on cruises didnt want their necks getting red so they popped em.

Reply:Because it's been played out ever sense Kanye came out with the whole regular collar again. Also, collars are classic and I would never wear a Lacoste or RL and A%26amp;F polo with the colar popped. I think it's soo last year. And it gives off an over flashy look.

You might be the nicest guy in the world but once popped, the collar will turn you into a different person filled with feelings of self-centered personality. you may not realize how much of a prick you are being at the time because the hypnosis of the collar erases all memory of how you acted when it was popped. Its simple really.
Reply:I like it. I think some people just don't realize that others actually wear what they want because they like it. Honestly, I think when people wear polos they should wear the collar popped because there is just something about it that looks better.

Reply:at my old school, guys that popped their collars were classified as preppy jerks who use girls for sex. it's a stereo type, but if u find someone who knows the real you it won't matter if you pop your collar or not. jus don't satisfy the stereo type if you know what i mean
