It's a fad started by rich black rappers, so naturally preppy white boys had to follow suit. I can't imagine anything more retarded except for maybe the special olympics, and i'm willing to bet they'd wear popped collars if they could.

folded collars look mundane and give off the stereotypical look of a countryclub golfer. a pop collared adds flare without being too overzealous. and no, popping collars wasn't started by rich rappers -- the idea came mostly from ralph lauren.
but, if popped collars piss you off that much, dont worry; people are also wearing peter pan collars now.

Here's the deal... Ive been a fan of upturned collars since I was little. Mostly on turtlenecks, but also love it on polo shirts, dress shirts, and jackets. I love wearing them, but I am very very shy about it, and love seeing girls wear them.

If you do pop your collar (wear your collar up), describe in detail what style you like the best? What do you wear with the collar popped? When do you most wear your collar up? How does wearing your collar up feel? These are all questions I have as I am doing some research on the popped collar trend. Again please give detail...it is much appreciated.

THIS IS FOR SCHOOL, NO JOKE. only collar popping girls. what brands of polo shirt collars popped best and why the collar pops the best? and why you like to pop polo collars?

Polo's from brands like Lascoste, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Abercrombie work well if you want to pop your collar because of the fabric. I'm not quite sure what the term for it is but it is thicker and kind of 'stiff' so the collar stands up well. Some stores carry polo's made from regular t-shirt material and the collar on these types of polo's will not stay popped. I'm sure you can find a polo made from the right fabric at any price point. If you don't know what I mean go see one of the brands of polo's I listed.
Oh and I like to pop my collar cause it makes me feel hot...

No, unless your neck is cold or your afraid to get your neck sunburned there's absolutely no reason to pop your collar. I work at AEO and I will go the point if I see someone with a popped collar I will excuse me and pop in down for them.

I've been horribly misjudged for having a popped collar and I'd like some insight. I'm a really sweet, caring and compassionate guy but because I popped my collar most people seem to think I'm an arrogant, self-centred prick. Even though i dont act like that at all.

Seriously, though, I think that -- as the other poster above alluded to -- it's OK if it's dang cold out and you want to warm your neck (if it's a long-sleeved polo and wintertime), or if it's summer and you want to protect against a sunburn on the beach (though today we have nifty sunscreens for that). If it's not for some practical reason such as these, though, I see no reason to do it.

A attitude that they think they are something special jumps out. Sorry, but like everything else, it is a stereotype. If you are as nice as you say I would unpop the collar and leave it flat. Are their any women who like to wear a POPPED COLLAR to parties or more classy sophisticated events?
I am researching the POPPED COLLAR trend and would like to see if women have or will wear pop their collar at more classy sophisticated affairs. If you do please feel free to give detail as to what kind of collar you popped, when this was done (time frame) and what accompanied this popped collar look. The more detail the better, thank you.

This is too funny. Well, the only collar that I am poppin is the collars on my trench coats when I am walking the streets on Manhattan. It looks really chic and mysterious to do that to a coat. I would NOT do that to my dress shirt though. That takes a different %26amp; more daring woman to do that!

What do you think about popped collar?
So as I'm walking around my campus I see some guys have their collars popped. I myself is very familiar with this fashion statement as Abercrombie first launched this trend during the Back To School 2005 season. However, this wave of trend has passed as of Spring 2006 Season and all the stores pretty much been putting them down. However I'm still seeing people wearing them that way.
What do you guys and girls think about popped collar? I personally feel it scratches the back of my neck too much.
P.S. But I still think it looks hot when girls wear it up with a solid A%26amp;F polo :)
